“Very interesting designs are born in challenging sites of much limitations”
The Molluscan clinic – an imaginary anecdote through the eyes of a Mother:
Large frame monumental gates open inwards to welcome us as we drive into the grey stone parking lot. The branches of a large tree overhangs above the car park, scattering dried leaves over the rocky hard-scape. We alight from our sedan onto the pleasant environ of greens around which exudes a vibe of serenity. A portal frame beckons us towards crystalline glass doors. Inside we are taken aback by a transcendental (pun intended) space … We are greeted by an oyster gaping at us from behind the reception desk – a literal large pair of molluscan shells opening over the table, above on the ceiling and on the wall behind, it’s soft, shimmering sheen lit up by demure lighting. The directive profile ribs of the shell, draws me in. Upon closer inspection I see a shiny, pristine, metallic tooth embedded at the center of the opalescent shell surface and the meaning hits – “THE PEARL DENTAL” !!! The soft coral form table is manned by a pleasant staff who gives me a warm reception, enquires and notes down the details and guides us to our seats.
We sit by the corner looking all around in wonder … The right-side envelope of the space is a long wall of soft greenery which extends on, to the end of a passage in front of us, with intriguing glows at the far end. While there are small golden shards of luminescence at the base of this greenery, the marvel here is another soft milky light filtering in and washing the crown (again pun intended) of the vegetation – I suddenly realize that today is a full moon day and the connection is a surprising revelation. Between the ‘organism’ and the mystically moon-lit plants is a dark deep-aqua blue, reflective ceiling and sand-like soft marble floor, rooting (pun yet again) from the den of the clinic, which creates an inkling about being underwater … As I get acclimatized to this novel feeling I sense something missing – my daughter who was tearful and fidgeting the entire drive from home, through panic and pain, has become quiet, being dumbstruck seeing where I have brought her – I smile secretly to myself and pick up a dental magazine from the coffee table as we wait for our turn to meet our dear Doctor …
